Shooting in Lawrenceville, Ga. — Law enforcement officials in Gwinnett County are investigating a fatal shooting that left four people dead early Friday morning at a residence in unincorporated Lawrenceville. Authorities say a suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Gwinnett County police were dispatched to a home on Brook Ivy Court, near Alton C. Crews Middle School, shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday following a 911 call reportedly made by a child inside the home. Officers arriving at the scene found four adults deceased inside the residence.
Law enforcement also located three juveniles unharmed inside the house. Police say those children had been hiding in a closet and were unarmed. One of the children is believed to have been the one who placed the initial emergency call.
A suspect was found a short distance from the home and taken into custody without incident, according to authorities. Investigators currently believe the shooting was domestic-related, though the exact motive remains under review. Police have stated there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
Senior officers acknowledged the tragedy as a rare and serious event for the community, emphasizing that fatal shootings involving multiple victims are uncommon in the area. They have urged members of the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to continue their work.
The Gwinnett County Police Department and investigators from the district attorney’s office are expected to release further details as the case develops. Families of the victims have not yet been publicly identified, and authorities are working to notify next of kin.
